The love of real estate began for Shelyn in Nags Head, NC in 1977 when she first invested in land and built her first home. That love continued when she moved to Myrtle Beach in 1979.

Real estate runs on Shelyn's side of the family, her great grandfather was a real estate developer in Miami, Florida. Shelyn has two other daughters, Jennifer who lives in Miami, FL and Rita who resides in New York City. She is married to William "Gregg" Lee, born and raised in Myrtle Beach and their families are owners of Chestnut Hill, Chesapeake House, and Lees Inlet Kitchen restaurants.
